If you've ever experienced a sudden spinning sensation, you may have had vertigo. At Faithh Physiotherapy, we specialise in vestibular rehabilitation using infrared video goggles for precise diagnosis.
What Causes Vertigo?
The most common cause is Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) — tiny calcium crystals become dislodged in the inner ear. Other causes include vestibular neuritis, Meniere's disease, and labyrinthitis.
Common Symptoms
- Spinning sensation when moving your head
- Nausea or vomiting
- Loss of balance
- Difficulty focusing your eyes
- Feeling unsteady when walking
How Physiotherapy Treats Vertigo
For BPPV, the Epley manoeuvre is highly effective. This is a specific sequence of head movements performed by your physiotherapist to reposition the dislodged crystals. Many patients experience relief in just 1-3 sessions.
For other types of vertigo, we use vestibular rehabilitation therapy — a series of exercises designed to retrain your brain to compensate for inner ear problems.
Our Specialist Equipment
At Faithh Physiotherapy, we use infrared video goggles for accurate diagnosis. These goggles allow us to observe your eye movements in darkness, providing precise information about the type and severity of your vestibular condition.
