When Should You See a Physiotherapist for Knee Pain?

Knee pain is one of the most common complaints we see at Faithh Physiotherapy. But how do you know when it's time to stop ignoring it and get professional help?

See a Physiotherapist If:

Your pain has lasted more than 2 weeks. Acute injuries often improve within a few days. If your knee pain persists beyond two weeks, something more may be going on.

You can't fully bend or straighten your knee. Loss of range of motion suggests a structural issue — possibly a meniscus tear, ligament damage, or significant inflammation.

Your knee gives way or feels unstable. This could indicate a ligament injury (ACL, MCL) that needs professional assessment.

You hear clicking, popping, or grinding. While not always serious, persistent joint sounds accompanied by pain should be evaluated.

Pain is affecting your daily life. If knee pain stops you from walking, climbing stairs, or sleeping, it's time to get help.

What to Expect at Your First Appointment

At Faithh Physiotherapy, your initial assessment includes a detailed discussion about your knee pain history, a thorough physical examination, and a personalised treatment plan. Most patients see significant improvement within 4-6 sessions.

Can Physiotherapy Help Avoid Surgery?

In many cases, yes. Strengthening the muscles around the knee through targeted physiotherapy can improve stability, reduce pain, and potentially avoid surgical intervention entirely.
